Proyecto Masa Valverde
Snapshot
- Asset Type Underground deposits
- Stage Development, exploration
- Key Metals Copper, zinc, lead, gold, silver
- Location Andalucía, Spain
- Ownership 100%
Proyecto Masa Valverde consists of several undeveloped volcanogenic massive sulphide (“VMS”) type deposits and targets that are strategically located approximately 28 kilometres south of Riotinto’s 15 Mtpa plant.
Atalaya acquired a 100% interest in Proyecto Masa Valverde in October 2020. The project includes the Masa Valverde and Majadales polymetallic deposits and the Campanario target. Majadales was a new discovery made by Atalaya’s exploration team.
It is expected that future development scenarios would involve the construction of a ramp in order to access the Masa Valverde and Majadales underground deposits, with mined material then transported by public road to the existing 15 Mtpa Riotinto plant for processing. Various mining rates will be evaluated as the Mineral Resource contains higher grade copper and zinc zones within a global envelope of massive and semi-massive sulphides.
